Locklear Sworn In as School Board Student Representative

Posted Date: 9/10/24 (11:41 AM)

Oak Harbor High School Junior Allena Locklear was sworn in as a student representative of the Oak Harbor School Board at the Monday, September 9 meeting. Locklear fills the junior student representative position, joining Senior Maggie Litvachuk on the board. The school board selected her out of 6 finalists at the May 13 board meeting.

Student representatives on the School Board are not voting members but participate in critical conversations about school business and provide student perspective and insight.

Locklear is an AP student and is involved in athletics, robotics, choir, and the National Honor Society. “I want to become a student board representative to ensure the voices of students within our schools are heard, along with maintaining equity and accessibility of students in OHHS,” Locklear said during the selection process in May.
