Our School

Hillcrest Pride

Hillcrest Elementary is a Recognized WA Green Ribbon School

A Proud Member of Our Community

Hillcrest Elementary School has been a proud member of the Oak Harbor and NAS Whidbey Island communities since 1989.  Our beautiful campus is home to over 500 kindergarten through fourth-grade students.  With more than 70 dedicated professionals on our staff, we are committed to the academic, social, and creative growth of your child. We are proud to be recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as a National Green Ribbon School in honor of staff, student, and volunteer efforts to "Go Green" and make positive choices when it comes to our Earth.  We welcome you to visit our school, including our outdoor garden classroom, to discover how our community of learners gives back to the community at large. For the safety of our students and staff, we ask you to stop by our front office to sign in and receive a guest badge.

Our Guiding Principle: Doing What's Best for Kids

Our philosophy is founded on the key principle "doing what's best for kids."  All school and classroom decisions are based on how to best support and meet the needs of all learners.  In addition, our staff works with students to nurture the values that form the core foundation of our school culture -- Heron P.R.I.D.E.  Preparation, Respect, Integrity, Determination, and Empathy are a school-wide focus and incorporated into behavior expectations from the classroom to the playground and the hallways between them.  We invite parents to join in our efforts and celebrate your child's efforts to model these character traits at school and at home.
